Music in Peebles Friends and Supporters Group
In 2019, Music in Peebles changed its status from a Membership Club to a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) with a Board of Trustees rather than a committee elected by the membership. In order to reinforce the sense of belonging that might otherwise be lost by “members” becoming “subscribers”, a Friends of Music in Peebles group was proposed.
A letter to our subscribers went out in February 2020 seeking positive responses to a Friends and Supporters Group to help behind the scenes in the promotion of our season of concerts. As a result, we gained two new Board members and twelve willing supporters to assist the trustees, which was most welcome. Unfortunately, there was no time to consolidate because of the COVID-19 restrictions, but we shall be exploring possibilities as confidence returns.
Friends and Supporters help with:
- Accommodation, Hospitality and Transport for performers
- Distribution of publicity materials – leaflets, posters, mailshots
- Help with fund-raising events – coffee mornings, raffles, home baking stalls, tombola prizes and ideas for other ways of raising money to support the cause.
The more friends and supporters we have the less burdensome it becomes!
