Music in Peebles has been bringing high quality performances of great music to the people of Peebles and the surrounding area since 1947. We are proud to be a much-prized part of cultural life in the Burgh.
We present a series of concerts each year, between September and March, mostly in the form of solo recitals or performances by small ensembles, some using our own Steinway grand piano. We have also presented occasional orchestral and choral concerts and included illustrated lectures delivered by authoritative speakers. All these events are open to everyone.
The principal venue for our concerts is the Eastgate Theatre & Arts Centre in Peebles. We encourage performers to converse with the audience, introducing themselves and giving their insights into the pieces they are playing, adding to the accessibility of the music.
Each year we deliver a well-balanced programme, featuring a variety of performers and instrumental combinations. We also include a diversity of repertoire ranging from early music to established classical works as well as promoting new and contemporary pieces.
Among the performers are many international musicians and groups of the very highest calibre. It is also a particular objective of Music in Peebles to provide opportunities to outstanding young artists, especially those based in Scotland, who are striving to build their careers.
