Online Concert: Learmont Drysdale and his Music Rediscovered Recorded 4 September 2022 Venue: Eastgate Theatre, Peebles THE FESTIVAL LECTURE-RECITAL 2022 Jointly presented by Music in Peebles and The Tweeddale Society as part of Creative Peebles Festival A talk by Robert England on the life of Learmont Drysdale will be followed by a concert of his music,including chamber works, pieces for solo piano and song settings, performed by Gina McCormack and students from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Songs: A selection of songs and song settings, with piano accompaniment, with particular emphasis on texts by Borders writers, including Walter Scott, Robert Chambers, James Hogg (‘The Ettrick Shepherd’) and Lady Grizel Baillie (of Mellerstain). Online Concert: Kowalski-Reyes Duo Recorded December 2020 Venue: Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Glasgow As the Kowalski-Reyes Duo, Madelyn Kowalski (cello) and Maurizio Arroyo Reyes (piano) were due to play a live recital for Music in Peebles in the Eastgate Theatre, Peebles, on Sunday 10 January 2021. Unfortunately, like so much live music at that time, the performance had to be cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Instead, they recorded this recital for us, containing two of the works scheduled for their original live concert. This film was recorded for Music in Peebles in the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Glasgow, in December 2020.
