A HOSPITAL has had its first-ever concert by professional musicians.
The international Atelier Ensemble recently visited Hay Lodge Hospital in Peebles as part of the Music in Peebles outreach programme.
The trio, consisting of violinist Elizabeth Gange, Slovak-American cellist Rebekah Woodier, and South Korean pianist Sinae Sung, performed a variety of pieces, ranging from Mozart’s Ronda alla Turca, to jazz and classics such as Elgar’s Salut d’amour, Danny Boy, and Moon River.
The group, who met at the Royal Conservatoire of Music in Glasgow, have been playing together since 2022.
They were recently accepted as Live Music Now musicians.
Helen Narracott, from Music in Peebles said: “Concerts by professional musicians at Hay Lodge was a new initiative, which we plan to repeat in the next few months.
“So many patients get stuck in Hay Lodge waiting for care packages before they can go home.
“By bringing top-quality music to the hospital we hope to brighten the occasional day.”
The ensemble also performed at Dovecot Court, which one resident described as “the best concert we’ve had here.”
The Music in Peebles 2025-2026 concert season details will be announced soon.
