IMPORTANT NOTICE

The Eastgate Theatre is closing on Saturday 15 June to allow for refurbishment of the auditorium and foyer. You can find details of this exciting development, and updates on progress, on the Eastgate Theatre website.

During the closure, the theatre staff and box office will operate from 23 High St, Peebles EH45 8AG (the former Visit Scotland Information Office).

The Eastgate café is scheduled to re-open on Monday 12 August and the auditorium on Sunday 8 September.

The first concert of Music in Peebles 2019/20 season will mark the grand re-opening!

Eastgate Theatre entrance

The regular venue for concerts promoted by Music in Peebles is the Main Auditorium of the Eastgate Theatre and Arts Centre , the vibrant heart of the arts scene in Peebles.

Eastgate Theatre

The Theatre occupies the former Free Church building (St Andrew's) in the centre of Peebles, dating from 1872. The transformation of the building by multi award-winning Edinburgh-based architect Richard Murphy retained the original Gothic facade but introduced a completely new entrance elevation allowing views of the interior.
On its completion in 2004, the building was short-listed for the prestigious Best Building in Scotland award and was described by the judges as ‘an excellent piece of urban design’.

Eastgate Theatre auditorium

The Main Auditorium is on the first floor and seats 224; 156 stalls (raked seating), 12 rear gallery, 56 side galleries (with restricted view). There is space at the front for up to six wheelchairs and the Theatre has facilities in place to ensure that disabled customers have easy access and good support while they are at the Eastgate.

Eastgate Theatre cafe-bar

The Theatre has a café-bar, which is open from 6.30pm before the concert and during the interval.

The café-bar is also open during the day, 10am to 5pm, Monday to Saturday, from 6.30pm on show nights and from 1.00pm on Sundays when there are films or a show.

If you're in town, why not drop in for morning coffee, a light lunch or afternoon tea?

THE FRIENDS OF THE EASTGATE THEATRE NEED YOU!
Friends of the Eastgate Theatre need you!
We are extremely fortunate in Peebles to have such a wonderful venue for our concerts as the Eastgate Theatre and Arts Centre. As regular members of the audience, there's a danger that we all take it for granted, but visiting artists regularly comment on the quality of the Theatre, the professionalism and helpfulness of the staff and the pleasure of performing in the Eastgate. However, the Eastgate cannot survive on praise and grants alone!

This is where the Friends of the Eastgate Theatre step in. The Eastgate relies enormously on the support of its Friends to fund various activities and items for the Theatre. In return, Friends receive a variety of great benefits, including discounts on tickets for selected shows and at the café-bar.

As a lover of live music, whether or not you are a member of Music in Peebles, please do consider joining the Friends of the Eastgate Theatre. You can find out more by visiting the Friends of the Eastgate Theatre page on the Theatre website, or by picking up a leaflet and application form at the Theatre.

Your membership will mean so much to the Theatre, and will help it to go from strength to strength!
